About/Credits

I chose to do my curriculum unit on this topic because it is interesting to me. I have very much enjoyed researching the evolution of race and the US Supreme Court. As a future social studies teacher I would like to have the opportunity to teach to my students how the view on race has changed over time within the Us Supreme Court. I think it is important for students to understand separate but equal, desegregation, and the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment. The personal actions I took to ensure I was not biased were that I focused on final judgments from the courts to explain the cases. I did pose open ended questions in the lessons to be asked to the students. However, they are intended to get them to critically think, my opinion has no place in their decision. For this assignment I did not use my classmates peer review my work or a librarian to help with the research. I primarily did this on my own. The guidance I did receive came from my professor, Professor Landrum. He posed great help throughout the entirety of this project.
